Current restriction on SharePoint Online (formula fields / Teamsware Studio Deployments)
Currently, some deployments of Teamsware Studio solutions have errors in processes that create or update formula fields in SharePoint. These errors occur exclusively during deployment on productive lists run regularly.
Affected functionality
Particularly affected are automated processes that:
- Create new formula columns
- Update existing formula fields
- Provide list schemes with formulas
Affected environments receive typical error messages such as:
- Failured to set formula
- The formula contains a syntax error or is not supported
- Completed with Errors
Such deployments must be initiated again after remediation.
cause
Microsoft has tightened the validation (paring/checks) of formula columns in SharePoint Online.
Formulas that have previously been accepted are currently incorrectly rejected as syntax errors during provisioning.
The mistake comesNotfrom the teamsware runtime, the message is returned directly from the Microsoft API.

We are already in active analysis and are testing short-term workarounds.
At the same time, we are coordinating with Microsoft to verify the underlying platform change.
Currently available workaround:
formulas, if necessary. Easily adjust/simplify
Manually support deployments when needed
Productive data or lists are not endangered.
Impact
- Deployments may failWhen formula fields are set or updated
- Existing productive lists are not affected
- No data is lost
- Teamsware is not the cause of the problem, the error message comes directly from SharePoint
Next steps
We are currently checking:
- Short-term adjustments to affected formulas
- Possible workarounds in deployment process
- Continuous coordination with Microsoft on platform change
As soon as a stable solution is available, we will inform you immediately.
