Known limitation: Authentication of Teamsware app in Microsoft Teams (Error 401)

Description:

In the use of theTeamsware appWithin Microsoft Teams, certain content (e.g. B. SharePoint pages or Outlook items) are not loaded. Instead appears an401 ErrorOr the app does not display any data.

Cause:
This is not a bug of the Teamsware app, but a known limitation in Microsoft Teams. The app cannot authenticate itself to SharePoint or Outlook on its own. Microsoft considers this behavior not a bug, but a design decision.
Teams is not meant to display Outlook content directly in an app, which is why Microsoft does not offer its own solution.

Impact:

  • The app requires valid user credentials for SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Without this authentication, content cannot be loaded.

Idea

What can they do?

There areNo official workaround, but the following steps help in practice:
  1. Click once on the default Files tab /🙂 releasesin team channel.
    • This connects to SharePoint and updates the credentials.
  2. If that doesn't help:
    • Add a new SharePoint tab by trialAnd then delete it again.
  3. Sign in again to Microsoft Teams(unsubscribe and registration).
These steps ensure that authentication to SharePoint is done. After that, the Teamsware app should work as usual.

Important note:

Microsoft currently does not offer a solution to this behavior and does not classify it as an error. We monitor the situation and inform as soon as something changes.
