SharePoint agent is AI assistance chatbots integrated into SharePoint that use Microsoft 365 Copilot to provide information and insights directly within the SharePoint environment. Users can interact with these agents to get summaries, find specific information, and stay updated on site content without leaving the page.
Note: To create and use SharePoint agents it is necessary to have:
- Microsoft 365 Copilot license
- or enabled pay-as-you-go service for SharePoint agents by your organization
You can create SharePoint agent within the scope of a file, in scope of selected files or for the whole library. To create SharePoint agent in for whole library:
- In SharePoint site create a document library. Add files.
On the command bar click on the button 'Create an agent'. This will create an agent for all supported files in this library.
Agent for the whole library scoped to your selection is created and ready to use. You can choose to Open agent directly without further adjustments, or you can select Edit to customize its branding, purpose, scope and behavior.
To create a SharePoint agent for a file:
- In the document library create or upload the file.
- Select the file, open context menu (on the row or on the command bar) and click on 'Create an agent'.

Teamsware provide a possibility to package and publish AI assistance SharePoint agent.
You can package and publish SharePoint agents, created in scope of library or in scope of file and approved agents. In order to package and publish you need to open SharePoint agents (in Solution Elements) and check 'Package SharePoint agents' checkbox. Only SharePoint agent files from libraries included in the solution will be packaged
Note: If SharePoint agent has a source as file or library you need to check 'Package all items of this list as part of the solution' option on the library:
Approved agents are located in Site Assets library.
In order to publish approved agents, you can select which approved agents to include in the package in teamsware studio.
